Your privacy and data protection are important to LeaseLine BV, whose registered office is located at Lange Lozanastraat 260, bus 62, 2018 Antwerp, Belgium. The company is registered in the Antwerp commercial register under company no. BE 0825.206.021. (Hereafter referred to as ‘LeaseLine’, ‘we’ or ‘us’.)
If you call upon or enquire about any of the LeaseLine services, you entrust the company with your personal details. With this Data Protection Statement we aim to inform you how we collect, use and release data.
This Data Protection Statement applies to our www.leaseline.be website (hereafter referred to as ‘Website’), as well as all the (business) relationships between LeaseLine and their customers, prospective customers and business partners.
1. Which personal details are collected and how?
We process the personal details of persons with whom we have, or have had, or would like to have, a direct or an indirect relationship. If you transfer personal details of other persons to us, we request that you inform them accordingly.
Your personal details are collected to enable us to draw up basic information (name, address, language, etc.), as well as more complex information (such as the companies in which you are involved, the job titles you hold within these companies, etc.) that is necessary for LeaseLine to provide you with the services you purchase.
Any details you provide to LeaseLine in order to become a business contact, a customer or a prospective customer in accordance with the national and European anti-money laundering legislation: Virtually all of the services supplied by LeaseLine require you to provide your identification details from the outset. These details are then stored in the LeaseLine databases.
Any details that LeaseLine may possibly receive with regard to a specific matter when you are already a customer or a prospective customer of LeaseLine. These details may relate to:
- Identification details;
- Specific financial details;
- Personal features;
- Physical details;
- Lifestyle;
- Family make-up;
- Leisure activities and interests;
- Memberships;
- Legal information;
- Housing information;
- Education and training;
- Profession and occupation;
- National registration number/social security identification number;
- Image recordings
- Sound recordings

Most of the information is available on or via the website without you having to provide your personal details. In some cases you may be asked for your personal details. We do not process any details concerning race or ethnic origin, political convictions, religion or beliefs, trade union membership, health, biometric data or sexual orientation.
2. What are the purposes for processing your personal details, and what are the underlying reasons?
We process your personal details for various purposes and reasons. All these reasons are based on the following:
Assessment prior to signature of a contract and performance of a contract
Compliance with legislation or regulations
Protection of legitimate interests on the part of the leasing company/ies
Your permission is not a justifying reason for any of the personal data processing we currently perform. If we were obliged to ask you for your permission for specific personal data processing in the future (because we are unable to process them based upon one of the justifying reasons), please be assured that you can always withdraw your permission again at any time.
2.1. LeaseLine must be able to assess whether a contract can be entered into, and must be able to correctly implement a contract
The main (pre)contractual reasons for processing your personal details are, for example:
Managing customer files
Supplying our products and services: e.g.:
- Supplying financial advice for financial leasing, renting and rental products
- Monitoring our business activities
- Supplying financial planning advice
- Supplying leasing, renting, and rental solutions
2.2. LeaseLine must comply with legislation and regulations
The main legal reasons for processing your personal data are:
Combating money laundering and the funding of terrorism. We therefore are obliged to:
- Identify you as the customer, the representative or the ultimate beneficiary
- Identify your identity
- Assess your (money laundering risk) profile, which requires collecting various personal and professional details
Assessing the credit risk. For certain types of credit, we are obliged to consult certain databases, such as The Belgian Official Gazette, companyweb, etc.
Reporting your identity, account numbers and contracts to the various leasing companies.

2.3. LeaseLine must be able to operate as a company
We have a number of legitimate interests for which we process your personal details. In this process, we ensure that the impact upon your privacy is kept to an absolute minimum, and that the balance between our legitimate interests and your privacy is kept safeguarded.
The main legitimate interests for which we process your personal details are:
Storage of proof
Improving our products, services, processes and applications
Establishing, exercising, defending and maintaining the rights of LeaseLine, for example, in legal cases
Introducing and/or offering you relevant services
3. Use of Personal Data
The personal details collected by LeaseLine are processed in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (Directive 2016/679) of the European Parliament and Council of 27 April 2016 for the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of those data.
LeaseLine uses your personal details in order to supply the services purchased by you.
LeaseLine will ask your permission prior to using your personal details for purposes other than those described in this Data Protection Statement. With your permission, we can use your personal details, such as your e-mail address, to keep you informed of any changes in terms of legislation and topics that are relevant to you. LeaseLine can also use your e-mail address to inform you about their services.
4. Divulging Personal Details to Third Parties
LeaseLine will not divulge your personal details to any third party, unless this is necessary for the supply of the LeaseLine services and to optimise the latter (such as, although this list is not exhaustive, maintenance work, payment processing, database management, brokerage services, leasing companies, monitoring deliveries, etc.). Whenever LeaseLine acts on behalf of their business partners, i.e. as an intermediary for an insurance company, as an intermediary for leasing companies, then LeaseLine may be required to forward details to such partners as per their instructions.
If we are required to divulge your personal details to a third party in such circumstances, the third party concerned will be obliged to use your personal details in accordance with the provisions of this Data Protection Statement.
Despite the above, we may be required to divulge your personal details:
To the relevant authorities (1) if we are required to do so by law or for the purpose of current or future legal proceedings and (2) in order to protect and defend our rights;
If LeaseLine or virtually all of their assets are taken over by a third party, in which case your personal details collected by us will constitute one of the assets transferred;
In all other cases, we will not sell, lease, or transfer your personal details to any third party, unless the latter (1) has specifically obtained your permission for this purpose and (2) a data processing agreement has been entered into with the third party concerned, which shall contain all the necessary guarantees with regard to confidentiality and protection of your personal details.
5. Storing of Personal Data
LeaseLine will only store your personal details for the period necessary to fulfil the aims, as described in this Data Protection Statement under the heading ‘Use of Personal Data’.
If a more prolonged period of storage is justified by law or in order to comply with another legal obligation, LeaseLine may store your personal details for a longer period (up to 10 years).
6. Your Data Protection Rights
6.1 Exercising Rights of Objection and Withdrawing Permission to Receive Business E-mails:
You have the right to object to your details being processed for the purpose of receiving business e-mails, and to withdraw your permission for this at any time, by simply notifying Leaseline in any case (objection and withdrawal). In order to implement this, you can state your objection or withdraw your permission to receive business communications by writing to the e-mail address: gdpr@leaseline.be
LeaseLine will take such communications into account in order to respect your rights pursuant to the Electronic Commerce Communications Act. This explains why your details can be communicated between the entities.
You can also withdraw your permission to receive business e-mails upon receipt of the e-mail.
6.2 Exercising Rights of Objection, Access, Rectification and Deletion of Data:

Right to access your personal details which LeaseLine may have on record;
Right to have your personal details rectified, completed and updated;
Right to have your personal details deleted;
Right to restrict the processing of your personal details;
Right to have your personal details transferred;
Right to object to/oppose the processing of your personal details.
LeaseLine may refuse your request to exercise these rights, if these are unreasonably repeated, require disproportionate technical intervention, or if this would jeopardise the data protection of third parties, or if there is a legitimate reason to refuse your request, for example, when we process data for legal reasons in order to prevent fraud. A disproportionate technical intervention shall mean: developing a new system, implementing fundamental changes in existing operating methods, or requests concerning data stored on back-up systems.

7. Securing Personal Data
LeaseLine takes all reasonable organisational, technical and administrative steps in order to protect your personal details held on our systems in accordance with the current Personal Data Protection Legislation. Unfortunately, no data transfer via the internet or any data storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please immediately inform us of the problem by contacting us via the ‘Contact Details’ heading below.
8. Cross-border Processing of Personal Data
Any cross-border transfer of personal data to third parties is possible for the aforementioned purposes. This also entails that the data will be transferred to countries or regions that offer other data protection legislation compared to your country. As far as this is concerned, we will always take appropriate measures, so that in situations where such data transfers take place, such data transfers are always performed using methods that offer an ‘adequate level of protection’.
9. Updating of Data Protection Statement
LeaseLine has the right to amend this data protection statement by posting a new version onto the Website. We recommend that you regularly consult this data protection statement in order to stay informed of any amendments.
10. Other Websites
This Data Protection Statement only relates to our Website. We are not liable for the data protection or other practices of third parties, including third parties who manage a website to which our Website includes a link. The fact that we may include a link on our Website does not mean that we support the linked website.
In addition, we may offer you access to the functionalities of third parties that offer you the opportunity to post content on your social media account(s). Do please take into account that any information released with the use of these functionalities is managed by the applicable data protection policy of that third party, and not by this Data Protection Statement. We have no control over, and decline any liability for the method in which any third party makes use of the information provided by you with the use of those functionalities.
